Final project Idea

There's a tree outside my apartment building that has been marked to be cut down. I'm going to decorate it in various ways that will represent who I am but also in a way to celebrate the life of such a grand old tree on Monument. I want to use man made and organic materials to decorate the tree so as to attract various wildlife. I also love the fact that it is right outside my bedroom window essentially. It's perfect because I'm such a homebody. I love being in my home so having my piece of earth art be near me really embodies who I am. I want to use ribbons that are red and pink. Red representing a place of pain and the pink ribbons representing a color of self love and protection. The things to attract wildlife makes sense to me because when a person dies we gather to see them off. Since the tree is dying/dead I think it's symbolic to have wildlife gather around it.  There was a tree down on campus that was my favorite tree. I loved walking under it and looking up into its branches with its big leaves. One day I walked by and all of its branches had been cut off. I was heartbroken. Perhaps my Monument tree is that same to tree to someone else as the one on campus had been to me. This art work will be for me, for nature, and for others who that tree means something to.

Materials to use that I'm thinking of:
 Ribbons
Pop corn chains
Organic paper with flower seeds in it
Solar lanterns
Glass beads

  1. Again ... the writing on the organic paper is super cool ... keeping it simple is something to consider as the tree has its own beauty ...
